QT with Daddy

I have been spending some quality time with my Daddy. He is on leave from work for two weeks and he has been taking really good care of me. He is staying on top of his reading on how to make me the happiest baby...

I love to cuddle up and sleep with him.

And lately he has been helping me with my tummy time so I can exercise my neck muscles and grow big and strong!

Bath Time

My Mommy tells me I am a pretty messy eater; she calls me milky face. Then combine that with the fact that Mommy and Daddy didn't start the 'pointing it down' until I taught them a few lessons...I was in dire need of a bath.

I really like my infant tub. The pediatrician said I can't soak in the tub yet until my belly button stump falls off, so I sit in my sling and get my sponge bath. For the most part, as long as you don't take too long I don't mind bath time.

My First Dr. Appt.

Yesterday I had my first Dr. appointment on my two week birthday. Dr. Trujillo was very impressed with my weight gain. He says that is the most important milestone at the two week visit. I am 8lbs, 13 ozs already. I am in the 51% percentile for weight. I haven't got much taller yet, I was born at 20" and now I am 20 1/2", which is the 28% percentile. They measured my noggin too, and I have a ways to go there, I'm only in the 9% for head circumference. Mommy called me 'beetlejuice.' One thing is for sure, I still have big feet like my Daddy...

My First Photo Shoot

Barrett has already started his career as a super model at 9 days old. Mommy and Daddy's friend Binh came over to the house and he had his first photo shoot. Binh took so many great photos, we were happy to help her get the most out of all those expensive lenses. Her little girl Tatum came along and was the photographer's assistant...such a good little helper.

We can't wait to get the finished photos to use for our birth annoucements. Here are a few of the photos that Binh posted for us as a sneak peek...

I'm Pretty Popular

My first few weeks at home have been pretty busy. We have been trying to figure out our new routine which for me consists of eating, pooping, peeing, and sleeping. I think it is a little harder for Mommy and Daddy to come up with a schedule to work around all that pooping and peeing.

I've also been squeezing in a lot of visits from family and friends. I have met a lot of new people since I arrived...I'm pretty popular. I hope I can remember all their names...

My First Days

I wanted to post the announcement on the Blog as soon as possible so you all knew Barrett was here. Now that I have some more time (this little man is so tired so I can clock some blogging hours while he sleeps) I'm going to go back and recap our first week as a family and post a few more pictures.

Barrett has been an amazing baby at home. He is a great eater! He was born 7lbs, 8ozs, and left the hospital at 7lbs, 2ozs. As of last Thursday he was already above and beyond birth weight and is now 7lbs, 14ozs! He's a growing boy.

All that good eating makes him pretty sleepy. It is the cutest thing when he rolls off after a feeding and goes into a food coma. We are lucky parents, right now he is sleeping 3-4 hours between feedings which gives us enough time to get some sleep as well and stay on top of things around the house.

More to come, it has been a busy week of visitors so I want to post pictures of all of the new friends I have met...

He's Here!

We are so excited to annouce the arrival of Barrett Scott Rosenlund. He was born on Thursday, July 16th at 10:29AM at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA. He was a healthy baby boy weighing in at 7lbs, 8ozs, and measuring 20in.

Mommy and Daddy had a really good birthing experience, 11 hours from start to finish. My water broke at home Wednesday night at 11:30PM. We loaded up our bags and headed to the hospital where I finally felt my first contractions. We were checked in to the hospital at 12:30AM on Thursday. Since my water broke, they wanted to speed things along so we started on potosin, and boy does that stuff work!!! My contractions really started coming and coming strong so I said lets do the epidural at 3AM, no need to suffer...right? The epidural was actually the event I was fearing most, but it was amazingly fast and I barely felt a thing. After that we enjoyed 6 hours of painless bliss and Daddy got in a good long nap. At 9:30AM she said it's time and an hour later we were holding our son.

He remained nameless, just Baby Rosenlund, for two days. We were going back and forth between Tristan and Barrett, and Daddy could not make a decision. After spending some time with him, we finally decided that he was a Barrett.

We feel truly blessed! Thank you to everyone for your well wishes, we can't wait for you to meet him.

Someone is jealous they can't conceive...

I think Jeff is feeling a little inferior and a bit left out of this process. I've read it is normal for Daddy's to feel this way. I wanted to include him so we snapped a few shots of him as well. He makes a good looking pregnant man!

38 Weeks

We are at 38 weeks and 3 days, only 11 days to go until Baby Rosenlund's due date. It has been awhile since we have posted a belly shot so I thought I should get one before it is too late. There haven't been any real indications of an early arrival. I keep asking the Dr. each week are we getting closer and I keep getting the same response, 'hard to say, we just have to wait.' I guess we are all just on Baby's schedule now...

Guitar Heros

Rachel and Markham introduced Jeff to RockBand2 at their house after our little Santa Cruz BBQ the other weekend. Jeff had such a good time that I bought him his own Guitar Hero World Tour set the other day.
Those of you who know Jeff, you know that somewhere along the career path he took a wrong turn and missed his true calling of becoming a rock star. This is as close as I think we are going to get to putting him back on track. He's been practicing and rocking out and was excited to have company on the 4th of July to complete his band.
I must say, there is a reason you don't see very pregnant guitar players. The belly really gets in the way...

Saturday in Santa Cruz

It has been a pretty mild summer so far in Northern California. I am not complaining, since I am running a few degrees hotter while I incubate Baby Rosenlund. We did finally have a gorgeous weekend and Jeff and I headed down to Santa Cruz for a BBQ at Rachel and Markham's house. We didn't make it down to the water but we did take a short walk around West Cliff so Baby Rosenlund could get his first whiff of the ocean air. I can't wait to take him to the beach for the first time...

Happy 4th of July

Another Independence Day celebrated in San Ramon. This is our 5th year celebrating in the backyard followed by the fireworks show on the ridge. Typically this is an all day event we kick off with margaritas by the pool. Oh how I miss margaritas by the pool! This year we went a little low key with Baby Rosenlund expected in less than two weeks.

CC, Justin, Hovsep, Aline, and Gina joined us. We were very honored to spend Aline's first 4th of July in the States with her...yeah! Jeff BBQ'd it up for us before we headed over for the show. It was chilly again this year with what I would call something a little stronger than a 'breeze.' You can see Hovsep all bundled up below...and he comes from Canada. Jeff and I will have to work on controlling the weather for next year, but until we master that we always provide jackets and blankets.

A great show with some really good fireworks. Gina and I were amazed and wonder how they make fireworks and bundle in the designs. So, I'm reading up while I am on maternity leave...
